House On The Hill Toy Museum

Owned by a father and son team of Alan and Jeremy Goldsmith The House On The Hill toy museum is the largest private toy museum in the world. Featuring some 80.000 toys there is something for everyone including Daleks, dolls houses, Meccano, trains, vintage slot machines and even Princess Diana's children's bicycle! Also included in the admission price is entry to Mountfitchet Castle and The Dinosaur Experience.

Museum of Harlow

This museum traces the history of the town of Harlow through Roman, Saxon, Georgian and Victorian times right up to the development of the new town of Harlow. This can be done by touching some of the exhibits and even being able to try on costumes from the various eras.

All of this is housed within a 19th Century stable block which is part of Mark Hall Manor. All the attractions are accessible via disabled ramps as well as the gardens and toilets. There are also nappy changing facilities on site for parents, as well as free car parking at the rear of the museum building.

Mountfitchet Castle

Located next to the House On The Hill Toy Museum Mount Fitchett Castle is an attraction steeped in history. Originally an Iron Age fort it also was used as a Roman signals fort and then was attacked by William the Conqueror who built a settlement there. The attraction today recreates the way things were at the time of William the Conqueror and allows the visitor to explore the various areas as well as experience the various animals that wander the grounds, it is a fun filled trip back in time for all the family.

Due to the steep nature of a castle grounds there are steps to the main entrance however there is also a ramp available to give access to the site for wheelchair users. There are also disabled parking spaces located just outside the site that also have disabled toilets.

Epping Forest

Located in the county of Essex is the famous Epping Forest, a significant place for indulging in history and science. The forest is the largest public open space in the London area and measures nearly 6000 acres. The location of the forest is from Manor Park in East London to just north of Epping in Essex. The forest is of huge conservational significance as two thirds of if it is currently assigned to special scientific studying. Epping Forest has much to offer be it biking, picnics, nature rambles or just a nice relaxing stroll.
