Birmingham School In Business Challenge With Birmingham Airport
Thursday 31st July 2008A business challenge between Birmingham International Airport and Yardley School in Birmingham has resulted in a project run much like the hit television series The Apprentice.
The challenge saw 12 students all aged from 14-16 compete against each other going through the same kind of 'boardroom firings' as the television show with eventual winner Dheeran Vadgama creating an impressive presentation regarding the airport.
The challenge the students were set was top create a new airline business plan which required them creating a name, route and price structure. They were then asked to choose a retail outlet that could trade in the airport terminal building and had to keep in mind the effect it would have on the environment and research the type of customers that would use the retail outlet.
The children then had to travel to the airport ad make the best use of £50 that was provided to them. The students then had to speak to the airports senior managers about their views of the proposed airport expansion as well as the new runway.
