Larnaca Bomb Hoax Leads To Questioning Of Four Passengers
Wednesday 30th July 2008A bomb hoax at Larnaca Airport yesterday has led to the questioning of four people.
A stewardess cleaning the aircraft cabin aboard Thomson flight 4493 that had arrived in Larnaca from Gatwick Airport found two notes saying that there was a 'bomb in the baggage compartment and another that said simply that there was a 'bomb'. The flight had been carrying 235 passengers and the discovery resulted in sniffer dogs and police being called to the aircraft to make a thorough search. No bombs or suspicious substances were discovered in the aircraft and as a result it was cleared for take-off and returned to the UK at 5am.
The four peoplewho had been sitting in the seats where the notes were found were traced by police and were detained and questioned by police in relation to the notes that were written in English. Each of the individuals questioned underwent handwriting analysis and as a result no hard evidence could be found to detain any of the passengers and they were released.
