Security Breach At Manchester Airport

Monday 28th July 2008

Manchester Airport has been the scene of a major security alert today when two men managed to climb onto the terminal rooftop just as a Sultan of the United Arab Emirates was landing.

Both men are believed to be local and from Wythenshawe. They were arrested under the Aviation Security Act when an officer spotted them making their way across the terminal rooftop. An operator watched them via CCTV making their way across the rooftop.

As a result of the men the Sultan had to remain in his aircraft whilst they were removed from the area, arrested and questioned.
