Lightbulb Problem Leads To Emergency Landing

Friday 25th July 2008

A Saab 340 aircraft has made an emergency landing after the pilot smelt burning in the cockpit.

The fault was traced to a faulty lightbulb in the cockpit whilst the aircraft flew from Shetland to Aberdeen and had to be diverted to the nearest available airport. The landing was made under full emergency conditions and police, ambulance and fire were all waiting at Kirkwall Airport when the aircraft arrived.
