Budget Airlines Outperforming Traditional Rivals
Thursday 24th July 2008New statistics released by the Official Airline Guide (OAG) have indicated that low-cost or budget airlines are managing to outperform larger airlines that are considered more 'traditional'.
Overall the low-cost aviation business has seen a 13% growth however scheduled capacity from traditional airlines is up only 1% compared to the same time last year. The United States is seeing a downward pattern in domestic capacity of traditional flights with a drop of 2% which equates to a total of 21,500 less flights however the range of flights that are offered by low-cost airlines has risen by 4% compared to approximately the same time in 2007.
Flight in the MIddle East however are still strong compared to all other regions with a 34% flight increase to the region including India. Domestic flights have risen by 12%.
