Lufthansa Cancel Flights After Strike Action
Wednesday 23rd July 2008National German carrier Lufthansa have been forced to cancel close to 1,000 of their flights after pilots began warning strikes.
The airline have attempted to re-direct many passengers onto Deutsche Bach trains but exact numbers of passengers that are affected are still not clear. The strikes have come about after talks broke down between the pilots union, Cockpit and airline management.
The union Cockpit has stated that several airport are affected by the strikes such as Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf and Berlin's Tegel Airport. The strike is sure to be good news for airlines such as the German branch of budget airline easyjet that are hoping to make money from offering flights to the stranded passengers.
