Manchester Airport Cleaners Cancel Strike Action
Tuesday 22nd July 2008Industrial action by cleaning staff at Manchester Airport has been cancelled after a last minute pay offer was agreed upon.
The dispte had continued after the union representing the workers Unite rejected an offer of two percent from the employer Initial Air Services. The planned strike was to be from 6am yesterday and run until 6am Sunday. However a last minute change of heart by the company offered the workers a three and a half percent increase meaning that strike action was called off at the last minute. The increase will be backdated until February 2008. In total seventy eight percent of the members voted in favour of accepting the three and a half percent increase.
