Drunken Passenger Tries To Open Door Mid-Flight On Airliner

Thursday 17th July 2008

A packed First Choice charter flight had to make a stop in Bermuda last night after a drunken passenger tried to open the door of the aircraft in mid-flight.

The man was drunk and abusive according to reports and police met him on arrival in Bermuda where he was led away. It is understood that he was not actually arrested but is being questioned at the airport by officials.

Other passengers on the flight apparently clapped as the man was led away after he had not only tried to open the door of the aircraft mid-flight but had been abusive to other passengers. As a result of the individuals bahavious the captain of the aircraft requested that passengers did not drink anymore alcohol aboard the aircraft however it appears that this request was ignored by the man.

Due to rules governing crew resting periods, and the fact that there is no stand-by crew available it could be as long as 14 hours until the flight as able to take-off again and return to its original destination.
