Hong Kong International Airport Named The Best - Yet Again
Tuesday 15th July 2008The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has won the title of world's best airport by Skytrax for the seventh time in eight years.
The Skytrax survey takes place from August 2007 to May 2008 and covers 190 airports. Some of the key points that are examined are airport accessibility, dining facilities, shopping facilities, cleanliness of the terminal building, staff efficiency and politeness, accessibility, internet facilities, immigration services, security measures plus several others.
There can be no denying the competition that the airport faces and the result is once again a testament to the effort being made at the airport, located next to the island of Lantau. The airport was constructed by the process of reclamation and was first opened in 1998 as a replacement for Kai Tak Airport that was famed for an unusual spectacle as the aircraft had to fly close to skyscrapers on take off and landing.
