A380 Flypast At Manchester and Liverpool Airports Wow Planespotters
Saturday 12th July 2008Northwest England has seen the Airbus A380 for the first time this weekend as it arrived to make its first appearance.
An A380 was flown low over the New Brighton showground in Liverpool to give members of the public a chance to see the huge aircraft in all its glory. Earlier in the day the double-decker aircraft flew past Manchester Airport making a low approach and almost touching the runway before banking away. The huge aircraft then flew over Liverpool airport before turning away to the river Mersey area.
Residents of Liverpool were also able to catch a view of the aircraft as it flew down the river Mersey for a flypast. It then headed towards the pier head to salute Liverpool, which is clebrating it's role as Capital of Culture 2008.
The show at New Brighton, allowed Airbus to display the A380 to the visitors, including many from the airbus factory who assembled its wings. At present the A380 is operated by Singapore Airlines, with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic awaiting delivery of their ordered planes in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
