Manchester Cleaners Ready For Three Day Strike
Monday 7th July 2008Manchester Airport cleaners are to strike for three days next week after talks designed to resolve a union dispute over pay were unsuccessful.
The strike action is to take place from 6:00am on Thursday the 17th of July and will continue to the 20th of July ending at 6:00am. The cleaners work for the group Initial and an offer of 2% was rejected but still imposed. The strike action has been voted for with 94.6% in favour.
The representing Union - Unite have requested the management of Initial to resume talks aimed at ending the strike. If no agreement is reached then there are futher strikes planned for the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of July.
