Heathrow Paper Aeroplane Protest To Go Ahead
Thursday 3rd July 2008Protestors against the expansion of Heathrow Airport are to throw paper aeroplanes at the Department for Transport that will all have a picture of Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly on them.
The group that will throw the aeroplanes will be the Heathrow Association for the Control of Aircraft Noise (Hacan) and will have the London Assembly member Jenny Jones joining them. The last demonstration by the members of Hacan was made in March with many protestors descending on Heathrow Terminal 5 on its day of opening.
The paper aeroplane protest is due to take place today with the aeroplanes carrying both the face of Ruth Kelly and a message stating simply "no airport expansion". The protestors are partly taking this action claiming that the Transport Secretary will not speak to campaigners and residents about the expansion plans.
