BA Boss Challenges Tory Leader
Monday 30th June 2008
Willie Walsh, the chief executive of British Airways has criticised the leader of the Conservative Party, David Cameron for lending his support to current arguments against the construction of a third runway at Heathrow Airport.
Mr. Walsh continued in his criticism of the leader of the Conservative Party by challenging Mr. Cameron's comments regarding the potential wasting of runway space by transfer passengers using the airport. Suggestions by Mr. Cameron that a case had not been made for a new runway at the airport were also challenged by Mr. Walsh.
Mr. Walsh continued the argument by challenging recent comments that the airport could solve its problems regarding capacity by reducing the domestic flights it operated. Recent arguments have appeared to centre around transfer passengers and they appear to have become a 'sore point' in the arguments for and against airport expansion.
With the Conservative Party becoming more of a force in the UK it will be interesting to see the relationship Mr. Walsh develops with Mr. Cameron, as the Tories look increasingly strong and are potentially possible of winning the next general election.
