The inspections are being called to help them discover if potential air leaks can cause engines to stop mid-flight. It has been pointed out however that these inspections are not related in any way to the British Airways flight that crashed earlier this year at Heathrow Airport. That incident occured to a Boeing 777 in which the engines appeared to slowdown and not provide the power that the computer and the pilots were requiring of them as it came in to land at the airport.
