Greek Parrot In Parking Fine Row
Monday 10th December 2007Many of us will have fallen foul of traffic wardens during our time driving. However in the Western Greek city of Patras a parrot is causing a major headache for the local council and running up a hefty parking fine totalling around $650 (£320).
The Patras council claim that Coco the parrot is illegally parked and threaten that he will have to be moved back inside the pet shop where he originally lived. Coco's owner claims the bird will die if moved inside the shop as he enjoys the social interaction with the many people he meets on a daily basis sitting outside the shop.
Cocos perch occupies a small part of a metered parking zone and under the towns strict parking regulations this is illegal. The case it set to go to court and Cocos owner is hoping that the case will simply be dismissed allowing Coco to continue his sociable living in the Patras streets.
