Myleene Klass To Name New Cruise Ship At Dover Port

Tuesday 10th June 2008

Myleene Klass, the ex-singer from now defunct band Hear'Say will name the Carnival Splendor cruise ship at Dover Port on the 10th of July.

The cruise president and chief executive of Carnival Cruise Gerry Cahill paid tribute to the singer and said that her talents in the music industry would compement the features that the ship would be offering. The Carnival Splendor weighs in at 113,000 tonnes and can carry up to 4,914 passengers at any one time. It is the largest passenger ship to ever operate from Dover Port.

In true nautical style the ship will be christened with a bottle of Nyetimber English Sparkling Wine which is a break from the ususal champagne used on most occasion for christening ships. Lets hope that the bottle breaks however as supersticion has it that if the bottle fails to break then bad luck will bestow the ship on voyages. After the naming ceremony the ship will set sail for a three day cruise to Amsterdam and will be returning to Dover Port on the 13th of July. The next voyage for the shop will then be its inaugural voyage which will be in the form of a 12 day Baltic cruise.
