Stansted Airport Celebrate Shuttle Visit
Thursday 5th June 2008This week sees a significant anniversary at Stansted Airport as 25 years ago the Space Shuttle Enterprise visited the airport 'piggybacking' a cargo aircraft.

The airport plans to celebrate this anniversary by holding an exhibition at Enterprise House that will contain footage of the landing, associated memorabilia and many photographs from the event. The head of public affairs at the time Derek Winter decided that he could not let the events anniversary go unnoticed and ensured that the exhibition was organised.
Mr. Winter has said that he is looking forward to meeting many of his ex-collegues again and telling stories of the event to newer members of staff that were either too young or not even born at the time. The Shuttle came to Stansted Airport as part of a tour of Europe that also visited France, Germany and Italy.
