London City Airport Re-Opens After Discovery Of WWII Bomb

Wednesday 4th June 2008

Flights from London City Airport resumed yesterday after a World War II bomb disrupted services. However some delays continued on Tuesday night with the hope of the airport being completely back to normal by Wednesday.

The bomb was discovered on the site of the 2012 Olympic Games in Stratford on Tuesday afternoon. This followed the discovery of another bomb on Monday at Bromley-by-Bow that held up London Underground services. The two bomb discoveries in London matched another that was found at Amsterdam Schipol Airport recently making three World War II bomb discoveries inside a week in a curious co-incidence.
