New Parking Charge At Cardiff Airport
Monday 2nd June 2008Any passenger wishing to make use of Cardiff Airport's short stay car park for dropping off will no longer be permitted to do so free of charge after new rules were put in place.
The increase of security at the airport prohibits cars parking at the front of the terminal building due to anti-terrorism plans that have been put in place after recent terrorist attacks and scares. Previously the drop-off system was permitted in the car park closest to the airport for a free 20 minute drop off service, however this will now be charged at £1 regardless of how short the drop off is.
There are fears that the introduction of the charge will drive some passengers to use alternate airports such as Bristol. Cardiff Airport have responded to comments regarding the new charge by stating that passenger feedback indicated that the 20 minute stay was not long enough for some passengers and that their research indicated that passengers would prefer to pay a niminal fee to stay that little bit longer. Of course some passengers that only use the parking fr a very short time may feel that £1 is a slightly high charge for a short stay however only time will tell as to the success of the new system.
