Blackpool Airport Landing Aborted
Monday 2nd June 2008An aircraft on final approach had to abort its landing on the 5th of May after youths were spotted near the runway at Blackpool Airport.

The airliner - a Jet2 service travelling from Palma had to abort its landing just as it was about to contact the runway as not only the pilot but security staff and police also spotted the youths. However the initial alarm was raised by airport contractors who had spotted the youths apparently trying to climb over the airport security fencing. The pilots circled the runway until the youths were caught and escorted from the airport runway. After interview they were all released without charge.
