CAA Throws Weight Behind Airlines In BAA Monopoly Discussions
Tuesday 27th May 2008The CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) has emerged on the side of airlines regarding the calls for the BAA monopoly on UK airports to be broken up.
The CAA have responded to the Competition Commission's Emerging Thinking consultation by throwing their weight behind the airlines that are calling for the monopoly to be broken up. The CAA stated that they feel that ownership of airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted by one group is detrimental to competition and prices as competition often benefits consumers.
