The first flight from Stansted Airport was on the 21st of May 1998 but this was under the branding of GO. The flight took off from Stansted Airport and flew to Rome. A merger of GO and easyjet in 2002 produced one of the largest and most succesful budget partnerships in Europe.

Stansted Airport now handles fourteen of easyjet's aircraft and houses 552 easyjet staff. Since the first flight in 1998 the airline has carried over 39 million passengers to a selection of 26 destinations in the UK and Europe.
