Manchester Airport's unusual visitors
Thursday 15th May 2008Manchester Airport was flooded with enquiries for access to the viewing area. The reason for the sudden influx of planespotting visitors was soon unveiled.
The aircraft bringing in fans for the Glasgow Rangers and Zenit St Petersburg match at the City of Manchester stadium were Russian, and not usually seen in the UK.
Planespotters were treated to Tupolev TU 154, the Yakolev 42, Transaero Boeing 747 and Gazpromavia Boeing 737, many of which are common in Eastern Europe but rare to view in the UK.
