More Airbus A380 delays
Tuesday 13th May 2008Due to more time and resources needed to increase production, Airbus have reported that there will be further delays in delivery of the new A380.
Deliveries are already running almost two years behind schedule, due to wiring problems.
Airbus plans to deliver 12 planes this year, instead of the 13 expected. In addition to this, Airbus will only deliver 21 rather than 25 in 2009.
Singapore Airlines were the first commercial airline to run an Airbus A380, with Emirates, the planes largest customer, as already received four planes and are aware of 17 which are in production.
For British interest, British Airways ordered 12 A380's due in 2012 whilst Virgin Atlantic ordered six, to be delivered in 2013, each of these deliveries will be discussed with the customers closer to the time, as there may be knock on delays.
The British contribution to the Airbus A380 is the wings. These are made in Broughton in North Wales and Filton in Bristol.
