London City revamp update

Monday 12th May 2008

The expansion of London City airport is almost seven years ahead of schedule.

An American investment consortium, backed by AIG and Global Infrastructure Partners, bought London City Airport in late 2006, reportedly paying £750m.

At the time, they hoped to grow passengers numbers from 2.4 million in 2006 to 3.5 million by 2015 and 8 million by 2030.

The airport is now on track to do 3.3 million passengers this year.

The growth in passenger numbers mainly comes from the expansion of services by both British Airways running a Dublin / London City service and Irish airline CityJet.
