BA Boss Wishes Terminal Five Opening Had Been Posponed
Wednesday 7th May 2008The head of British Airways Willie Walsh has today admitted that with hindsight he should not have gone ahead with the opening of Terminal 5.
Walsh believed that the opening would have been a success at the time however from the fiasco that developed it is clear that postponing it would have been the better option. The BA boss has admitted that he was aware of pre-opening problems with the new terminal. As a result of his communication of problems the actual opening had been scaled back by BA and BAA. In addition to these comments he has also admitted that staff training was not up to scratch in the lead-up to the opening, and has blamed this on the construction work in the building hampering the training efforts taking place.
Walsh has insisted that the problems were not caused by any one factor and the issue came from a multitude of problems that developed after the opening had taken place. All seems to be working relatively smoothly at the terminal now with the efforts made to remedy problems appearing to have made a good deal of improvement for passengers.
