The flight will be operating four times every week from Heathrow Airport arriving at Freetown International Airport and will depart on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. A recent journey to the area by the chief executive of bmi, Nigel Turner saw him commit to trying to help the areas struggling economic situation.

It was only 2002 that saw the area begin to recover from a civil war. Since this time Britain has assisted the country to make slow but steady progress. The new flight route will help the country with a dedicated air link as well as helping bmi's connections to areas such as Europe and North America.
