Manchester Airports Group Shows Interest In Gatwick Airport
Tuesday 6th May 2008It has been reported that the Manchester Airports Group (MAG) is interested in the purchase of Gatwick Airport.
The chief executive has, according to BBC News, considered the purchase of the airport if BAA are ruled to have an unfair monopoly by the competition commission. The decision is still pending however and a decision is expected in August.
Gatwick is currently cited as the airport that is most likely to be sold if BAA is to be broken up for a sum that some industry insiders are putting at about £2 billion. The MAG is the current owner of Manchester, Bournemouth, Humberside and East Midlands Airports and apart from BAA has the largest airport ownership in the UK.
