Tuesday 6th May 2008

The contracting company Balfour Beatty has acquired a 95% share in Blackpool International Airport  which has been achievable through its Regional and City Airports department.

The 95% share will cost the group £14 million which is to be paid in cash and purchased from Mar Properties who are a property developer in Northern Ireland. Approval still needs to be given from Blackpool Borough Council who retain a 5% share in the airport. It is expected that there will be no issues as the council is in favour of the purchase deal describing it as "great news."
