Delta Airlines Celebrates 30 Year Anniversary
Friday 2nd May 2008The airline Delta is celebrating 30 years operating transatlantic services.
Delta Airlines first launched a connection between Gatwick Airport and Atlanta on the 30th of April 1978. The launch of the airline 30 years ago was described by the vice-chairman as 'a dream come true' that took over ten years to get off the ground.
Before the Gatwick service got off the ground Delta Airlines flew to the Bahamas, Canada and Venezuela. Glen Hauenstein, the executive vice-president of network management for Delta Airlines commented on the anniversary by saying that 100 new routes have been added since 2005, an excellent achievement for the airline.
