Ryanair Raise Check-In Fees To Encourage Online Check-In
Tuesday 29th April 2008Low-cost carrier Ryanair is to raise fees for checking in at airports and for carrying luggage in its aircraft holds.
The reasoning behind this move is to encourage passengers to use the internet to check-in, and the airline has pledged to keep the fees this high until half of their passengers are checking in online using the internet. The rise in pricing will be effective from the 5th of May from £6 to £8 and the airport check-in fees will go from £3 to £4.
Ryanair have suggested that passengers should avoid these charges by booking online and travelling with the airlines 10kg allowance that is permitted when checking in online. The move has create anger amongst passengers who feel that this is a process of adding charges since Ryanair was forced to advertise its prices included with tax on its website. You can view some passenger comments on this link at the bottom of the page, Travel Mole. Unfortunately Ryanair have said that they will continue to raise the check-in fares until half of all passengers check-in online, which will no doubt anger their customers.
