Humberside Airport Prepared For Sale
Tuesday 29th April 2008
Reports are coming in on the possible sale of Humberside Airport after the majority shareholder the 'Manchester Airports Group' is reviewing its 82.7% holding in the airport.
North Lincolnshire Council also holds a 17.3% share in the airport and is said to be reviewing its position in light of the rumoured sale by the 'Manchester Airports Group'. The 'Manchester Airports Group' invested in Humberside Airport in 1999 at a cost of £10 million, and has invested £7 million in the airport since then. However a change in policy means that it is now set to concentrate more on the larger airports it is involved with such as East Midlands and Manchester.
The future of hundreds of jobs at Humberside Airport also remains unclear as the site has over 730 members of staff. The airport in its current form is expected to reach the 1 million passenger mark in 2016 however a change of ownership could alter this prediction dramatically.
