Livingstone has spoken out as the BAA (British Airports Authority) fights in the High Court to obtain an injunction against the protestors who are combating the proposed expansion of the airport. Livingstone has claimed that the injunction will simply heighten the chances of protestors involving themselves with the Camp for Climate Action protest due to take place at Heathrow from the 14th to the 21st of August. Livingstone also said that BAA had managed to create huge media exposure from what was going to be a small event. Livingstone has been assured however by the police that they would have the protest under control.

Livingstone went on to criticise the London hub by saying that Heathrow was "typical of the English short-termism, lack of planning, lack of investment." Critics of the London Airport have already stated that they feel the delays and poor service that the airport has been suffering from has damaged Londons reputation as a major worldwide financial centre.
