London City Airport Eyes Up Southend Airport Purchase

London City Airport is eyeing up a purchase of Southend Airport by fronting a strong consortium including the well-known insurer AIG.

If their purchase were successful they would be looking to apply the same business and development model on Southend Airport as has been seen with London City - a highly successful airport. The purchase of Southend Airport would see investment made in road and rail links as well as seeing expansion of passenger and freight services
