Prestwick Airport Boss Doubts Elvis Claim
Friday 25th April 2008The boss of Prestwick Airport has cast doubt over the authenticity of a claim made by a theatre producer that Elvis Presley went on a tour of London in 1958 when he visited the UK.

An interview on Radio 2 with Bill Kenwright explained that Presley came to London in 1958 to visit one of his teen idols Tommy Steele. According to Kenwright, Steele took Presley around London and showed him some of the sights.
Prestwick Airport is very proud of its claim to be the only place Presley ever set foot in the UK and has a plaque erected to celebrate the event as well as a bar named after the legendery singer. Barring photographic evidence of the London visit they claim that they will keep their plaque erected, celebrating photographic evidence of Presley in the UK at their airport.
If Kenwright can provide photographic evidence of his claim it will be an amazing secret that has been held for so many years. It would also mean that Prestwick Airport would have to take down its plaque it so proudly displays. It remains to be seen if this new claim can be proven.
