Aer Lingus place an order for twelve new airbus aircraft
Monday 14th April 2008With an order of 12 new Airbus aircraft, six A350-900s and six A330-300s, Aer Lingus has made its biggest ever purchase of long-haul aircraft. Aer Lingus currently have an all-Airbus fleet, so the new aircraft will offer the same comforts.
The intention is to use the new A350-900's in the airlines US schedules and any other future long haul routes.
Aer Lingus was founded by the Irish Government in April 1936 to provide air services to/from Ireland. The first flight, from Dublin to Bristol, took place on May 27th 1936.
Since that time, Aer Lingus has continued to grow and became a publicly quoted company in 2006. Aer Lingus operate on a low cost model and make over 70% of their bookings via their website.
