Dover Town To Be Given Overhaul
Tuesday 8th April 2008The town of Dover is to be given an overhaul after it was announced that £4 million is to be spent giving the area a much-needed facelift including novel ideas such as a cable car linking the world famous Dover Castle with the town centre.

It is hoped that the money will restore the area to its previous glory days and is one of three port towns to be given investment including Blackpool and Torbay. The new funding programme is called Sea Change and aims to rejuvenise the costal regions by investing in culture and heritage projects.
The improvements will be widespread including promenades, gardens, harbours, building new structures and restoring older ones, reconditioning high streets and improving such cultural magnets as concert halls, galleries and theatres.
Dover's local council have welcomed the improvements and will be providing input into the improvements that they feel should be made along with the local council. It is possible that half the money (£2 million) could be used to improve Dover Castle if English Heritage have their way.
