Terminal 5 Criticised By Aviation Minister
Tuesday 1st April 2008The Aviation Minister Jim Fitzpatrick has been highly critical of British Airways and attacked them over the 28,000 bags that he claims have now accumilated at Terminal 5.
Mr. Fitzpatrick who was speaking to fellow MP's about the problem said that the situation at Terminal 5 was "unacceptable." He went on to say that British Airways needed to "place much greater emphasis" on the needs of its customers and he finished by adding that The Department of Transport had been in contact with the airline over the situation.

Cancellations are still not over at Terminal 5 with 25 returning flights cancelled today whilst Bitish Airways confirmed that they are working as hard as they can to return baggage to its rightful owners. They also disputed the figure of 28,000 bags lost and insisted it was more around the 19,000 mark.
Current analysis of the problems at Terminal 5 have indicated a possible £50 million price tag to fix the problems which comes at a difficult time for BAA's Spanish owners Ferrovial who are struggling to keep up re-payments on their loans.
