Second Manchester Airport Plans Considered
Friday 28th March 2008Plans are afoot by the owners of Manchester Airport - Peel Holdings to develop a second commerical airport in Manchester.
Attention has been focused on Barton Aerodrome which has now been re-named as City Airport and the plan indicates that this airport is to be used for business aviation in the area. Peel Holdings own the land in conjunction with Manchester City Council.

Managing Director of Peel Holdings Andrew Simpson stated that the airport would work in conjuction with the existing Manchester Airport and said "We are in discussions about making City Airport Manchester a business and general aviation airport. Manchester airport is very busy with larger jets and international flag carriers, and it's not an effective use of its facilities to have small aircraft going through there."
