Terminal 5 Chaos Continues Into Second Day

Heathrow Terminal 5 is still in chaos for the second day as flight cancellations and angry passengers fill the terminal.

Some passengers have had to sleep on benches overnight whilst others have arrived at 4am to start queing for flights. The general feeing amongst passengers seems to be that there were not enough check-in desks open and the staff behind them did not seem to be giving correct information. BAA bosses have now assured passengers that more check-in desks have opened, however this comes as little consellation for the many who have missed their flights.

Cancellations this morning are to Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh and they may continue over the weekend. BA's website gives information on what to do if your flight is cancelled between the 27th of March and 30th of March and can be found here.

Chief of BA, Willie Walsh has apologised to passengers after the problems during the opening of the terminal, he said, "We sincerely apologise to those customers who have suffered disrupted journeys or baggage delays during the first day in Terminal 5. We always knew the first day would represent a unique challenge. A number of early problems grew during the course of the day which led to significant disruption for our customers."

According to BA there have been several factors that have contributed to the delays including staff car parking problems and security checks which have hampered workers getting in on time.
