British Airways To Make Duty Free Shopping Available Online
Tuesday 25th March 2008Duty free items will be made available from British Airways through the internet it has been announced.
Items that will be made available will be perfumes, chocolates, watches and many other goods however cigarettes and alcohol will not be available due to UK and European law.

British Airways have been undergoing a trial period and the results have indicated to them that online duty free shopping is both viable and popular amongst customers. British Airways will ship the items you order to you with them arriving in a matter of days, however some critics have pointed out that with a track record of losing baggage they have doubts over their ability to be reliable with delivering duty free items.
Richard Cushing, BA's director of retail business operations has stated that they have received an "excellent response" from potential customers who seem to be interested in the ability to purchase duty-free items via the internet.
It remains to be seen if BAA will be happy with British Airways arrangement as they have recently invested a considerable amount of money in upgrading shopping facilities at the brand new Heathrow Terminal 5 encouraging passengers to purchase their duty free at the airport. Cushing has pointed out however that their online sales will only be a small percentage of duty free sales and does not believe that their will be any detrimental impact on airport duty free sales.
