Warning For The Over 55's
Thursday 20th March 2008The Foreign Office has claimed that the over 55's are putting their lives in danger by over-indulging and under-estimating dangers when on holiday. The Foreign Office went on to conclude that older British holidaymakers appear to be causing the kind of problems that are usually associated with the younger generation.
They state that "over-55s are endangering their health by drinking too much alcohol and trying out dangerous sports such as bungee jumping on overseas trips." They also go on to explain that, "excessive drinking has led to abusive behaviour from some fifty-somethings," as well as "over-eating and over-drinking resulting in drownings."

Foreign Office research has shown that 20% of 55-and over holidaymakers will try activities at home that they would not contemplate at other times increasing the risk of serious injury. To make matters worse approximately two in three over-55s admitted not taking out travel insurance when they last travelled.
The British vice-Consul in Rhodes said that, "Most problems we see with the older generation of Brits arise from over-consumption of alcohol and food. Drinking and staying too long in the sun can make you ill, and undertaking strenuous activities like going swimming or snorkelling after a large meal can put you in unnecessary danger. People have drowned this way." She also added that "After one too many drinks people can become abusive, for example shouting at resort staff."
