Owners Of Gatwick Airport Keen On Gatwick Purchase
Wednesday 19th March 2008The owners of Manchester Airport, The Manchester Airports Group (MAG) are eyeing a possible purchase of Gatwick Airport if BAA are forced to sell some of their assets.
Geoff Muirhead, the chief executive of MAG, has told the Manchester Evening News: “We have a strong track record when it comes to running airports. We have a lot of skilled people who have developed very good relationships with airlines and other partners.

A statement by The House of Commons Transport Committee indicated that they feel BAA is restricting competition and breaking up the group would give better for service for passengers.
Many feel that BAA may decide to break up some of its operation in order to prevent a quick sale of many of its holdings which would not be beneficial for it.
