Singapore Airlines A380 Makes Landing At Heathrow Airport
Tuesday 18th March 2008
A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 has made its first commercial landing at Heathrow Airport.
Flight number SQ308 arrived 15 minutes ahead of schedule and made a flawless touchdown with 470 passengers onboard. This makes the grand total of routes the superjumbo has operated on as three. All passengers onboard have been given certificates to mark the occasion and eight passengers are believed to be flying back straight after landing to be the first to have completed both legs of the journey.

The A380 first landed in May 2006 on a test flight to ensure the airport was suitable for commerical flights and the flight today is a culmination of this testing and investment made by Heathrow Airport.
As the years progress the A380 will be a more common site in the skies of Great Britain as BA and Virgin Atlantic have both placed orders for the double decker aircraft that will begin to be delivered in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
