Exeter Airport Raise Money For Local Hospice

Wednesday 12th March 2008

Exeter Airport travellers have raised nearly £1,000 for the charity of choice at the airport which is Hospiscare. Hospicare is the local hospice and gives care and support to people with life-threatening illnesses.

The airport has just received a letter of thanks from the hospice for the money that was raised last year. The money was collected from 'spnner bins' where the coin is slotted into the machine and spins all the way down to a pot in the bottom. It is entertaining to watch this and as a result often these 'spinner bins' can appear the most succesful in collecting money.

Not only UK money was exchanged but foreign coinage from passengers returning home from holiday. A Hospiscare representative described the money collected at the airport as "fantastic" and an airport spokesperson added: "we are very pleased to play our part in helping the charity raise funds for specialised nurses in the community and maintain its centre."
