Airlines Raided Over Potential Price Fixing
Wednesday 12th March 2008The offices of several well-known international airlines have been raided by European Comission Officials as a result of alleged price-fixing.
The names of the airlines that were being investigated were not released by the comission however KLM, Air France and Lufthansa admitted that they were amongst the airlines being investigated. Lufthansa reacted to the investigation by saying, "the Commission has information that passenger aviation companies, including Lufthansa in Europe and in Japan, may have taken part in anti-competitive price-fixing and collusive behaviour in traffic between the EU and Japan. Lufthansa is cooperating with the European Commission in full and willingly providing all the requested information.”

Air France and KLM are also understood to have stated that they are co-operating fully with the investigations. The Comission have noted that just because these airlines are being investigated does not mean it represents guilt in the matter.
