Operation Stack Continues To Cause More Misery In Kent
Tuesday 11th March 2008Operation Stack that has been in force for over a week due to industrial action by French ferry workers is continuing to cause misery with lorries parking on the M20 to Dover.
Junctions 8 and 9 between Leeds Castle and Ashford are closed as well as the coastbound section of the M20 now being closed to traffic. There has already been disruption with Operation Stack in force for more than a week now which is the longest period since the inception of the procedure over 20 years ago.
Kent Police said, "this may need to be in place permanently until the industrial dispute is resolved, although there are contingency plans to enable Stack to be stood down if there isn't a need to have it running." Any cars or non-commerical vehicles are being advised to use the A2 and M2 diversions. You can also find a diversion at junction 8 of the A20.
With the French industrial action now in its 13th day there still seems to be little sign of a return to work by the Sea France employees.
