Manchester Airport To Begin Azores Flights
Tuesday 11th March 2008This summer Manchester Airport is to begin flights to the Azores. The flights will be with operator SATA and will begin on the 3rd of May. The service will be an extension of the current flights from Ponta Delgada to Gatwick that run on Saturdays.
Currently SATA operate two flights on a weekly basis using the Airbus A320 aircraft that fly from Gatwick to Ponta Delgada located in the Azores on Saturdays and Tuesdays. This new flight route will extend the current Saturday service and fly to Manchester and Gatwick.

A UK SATA representative said “We are delighted to be bringing the Azores closer to the 28 million people in the Manchester airport catchment area. The Azores is enjoying increasing support from the UK travel trade, with new market sectors starting to develop in the region, particularly golf.’’
There can be no doubt that this will be a very popular route amongst current fliers as well as new passengers looking for an exciting new destination.
