Manchester Airport Plan Second Airport
Monday 10th March 2008Manchester Airport bosses have announced plans to develop a second airport in the current area that would work with the current airport.
The recent re-branding of Barton Aerodrome as City Airport Manchester means that this airport is a suitable candidate for development. The airport would not be a rival to Manchester Airport but would concentrate on corporate and business travel.

Manchester Airports Managing Director Andrew Simpson said "we are in discussions about making City Airport Manchester a business and general aviation airport. There has been a massive rise in business travel - executives using small corporate jets as they are quicker. Manchester Airport is very busy with larger jets and international flag carriers, and it's not an effective use of its facilities to have small aircraft going through there."
